Endless Creative Opportunities

Shiahma resides in a tranquil canyon off of California’s Central Coast. The re-purposed building was originally a barn used to dry harvested lavender that grows in the field outside. The estate offers several opportunities to explore nature including creekside writer’s nooks, swimming ponds with sunny exposure, a trail to the top of the mountain and boat access to nearby Avila Beach.

It Took a Village

On an evening in 2017, Finney and Stacy Smith's boundless passion for music led them to the historic blues club, Harvelles in Santa Monica. There, they danced like there was no tomorrow to the beat of a local group called The Tens. A friendship was formed and in the subsequent years, the band would visit the Lavender Smiths' farm when passing through town on tour.

Struck by an inspiration to produce and cultivate music, in 2022, Finney teamed up with guitar player Hunter Takao Nakazono to build a recording studio on the farm. With the help and expertise of dozens of their friends, they created Shiahma.

"Shi-ah-ma” is part of a mantra developed by Finney, inspired by the unconditional love and security that embodied his late mother, Mary Jane. We wish to propagate that spirit by curating a space of freedom, imagination and wonder.
